SHIELD MATCH.
WEATHER PROSPECTS MOST UNFAVOURABLE. SNOW FALLING LAST NIGHT. DUNEDIN, July 31. Snow is falling fairly steadily tonight and the weather prospects for tomorrow ’s Ranfurly Shield match between Otago and Southland are unpromising. Heavy snow has fallen in country districts and whereas many hundreds of cars were expected in Dunedin to-morrow from all quarters, from present appearances it would appear that practically all roads will be impassable so far as motor traffic is concerned.—(P.A.) INFLUX FROM SOUTHLAND. SPECIAL TRAINS BOOKED OUT. INVERCARGILL, July 31. Every seat was taken on the two special trains which left this evening, while the usual afternoon express which carried the Southland team was also well filled. The four special trains for to-morrow have been fully booked at the Invercargill booking office. It is expected that nearly 4000 will travel by rail.—(P.A.)
