VIEWS OF THE AUSTRALIAN LABOUR PARTY. ADELAIDE, July 31. Addressing the conference of the Australian Labour Party on banking and monetary reform, the Federal Labour leader, Mr. J. Curtin, contended that the Commonwealth Bank was the logical instrument to function for the community, and the Labour Party, when it assumed office, would see that it did so. Capitalism, he added, restricted production in many directions in order to perpetuate itself. The Labour Party would concentrate on problems which Capitalism could not solve. A fundamental cure for unemployment was planning of production and distribution so as to eliminate booms, slumps, and trade disorders.
