BUND INSTITUTE BAND.
VISIT TO MASTERTON NEXT OCTOBER. Arrangements have been completed for the well known Band of the New Zealand Institute for the Blind to visit Masterton on Wednesday, October 21. The Women’s National Welfare League is acting on behalf of the Institute in making local arrangements for billotting, ticket-selling, publicity, etc. The league is being assisted by the Mayor, the Masterton Rotary Club, Municipal Band, Toe H., Townswomen’s Guild (music section), and League of Mothers’ Choir. The institute has many friends in the district, who will welcome this opportunity of making personal contact with some of the men, in whose rehabilitation in life they have assisted. The Institute’s young cornetist, Mr. Allan Morton, who created a sensation at New Plymouth this year by carrying off the open cornet championship of New Zealand, will, of course be in the party, which comprises 21 playing members under Lieutenant G. W. Bowes. Sir Clutha N. Mackenzie, Director of the Institute will also be travelling with the party. Apart from giving excellent entertainment, the object of the tour is to keep the fine work of the Institute before the public.
