WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:— Barograph, 29.70; shade temperature, maximum, 45.8; minimum, 35.3; terrestrial, 30.6; sunshine, nil; rain, 13 points. Solway: Mr. H. M. Boddington reports that 15 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday.
The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—Pressure is still low to the east and a series of slight depressions continues to cross the Dominion and an extensive anti-cyclone covers Australia. Forecast: Winds moderate to strong south-westerly to south-easter-ly, rising to gale force at places about and south of Cook Strait, changing temporarily to westerly and northerly in the far north. Weather: Still cold and unsettled with further rain in most districts and hail in places, light to moderate snowfalls on the ranges and also on parts of the low levels, more especially in the eastern and southern areas of the South Island, mainly fair, however, on the west coast of the South Island; some sharp inland frosts in the South Island. Sun rises, 6.59 a.m.; sets, 4.55 p.m. Lighting-up time, 5.25 p.m.
