MOUNT HOLDSWORTH.

CLUB’S ANNUAL MEETING. HUT & ROAD REPAIRS. The annual meeting of the Mount Holdsworth Club was held last night, the president, Mr. J. W. Lewis, presiding. The secretary reported that he had written to the Tararua Tramping Club relative to a proposal to dismantle portion of the Mount Holdsworth Hut and to re-erect same near the snow line. In reply, the club stated that the matter had been held over pending the election of a new committee at the annual meeting. Mr. G. B. Wilson, Wellington, wrote suggesting the name of Sentinel Hut for the new hut at the snow line. The Mount Holdsworth Road was reported to be in a bad state of repair. It was decided to write to the South Wairarapa County Council asking if repairs could be carried out, as traffic to the mountain was increasing. It was also decided to write to the Wairarapa Automobile Association regarding the condition of the road. There was some discussion on the question of repairs to the mountain house, the chimney of which had been destroyed. It was decided to defer action for the present. Officers were elected as follow: —• President, Mr. J. W. Lewis; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs H. Joyce, F. Norris; caretaker, Mr. J. B. Johns; secretary and treasurer, Mr. B. lorns; auditor, Mr. D. B. Curry; committee, Messrs C. West, C. Wylie, J. Wells, W. H. Jolliffe, L. Robinson, G‘. Norris, C. Blake. A. Blake, Neville Ross, W. Southey and B. Morris. It was decided to ask the Wairarapa Automobile Association to appoint a representative on the committee of the club. The secretary reported a credit balance of £1 5s 7d.
