SCARLET FEVER.
CASES OF NATURE. Seven cases of scarlet fever have been reported in Masterton borough this iuonth, but latterly the caries have been of a very slight form, so much so that it is not always easy to know that the patient is suffering from the disease. A few cases are also reported from country districts in the Wairarapa, but here again they are mostly of a minor nature. In the two preceding months, May and June, four cases were recorded in the borough, two in each month. So far, there is no cause whatever for apprehension on the part of parents and many reports that are current that certain families are suffering from the disease are groundless. The position is being carefully watched by the authorities. Masterton borough has been comparatively free from infectious diseases for a considerable period and the numbers reported in the last few years have been considerably less than those ruling twelve or thirteen years ago.
