HARRIER ACTIVITIES.

MASTERTON CLUB NOTES. (Contributed.) R. Warnam, one of last year’s novices, is running well up to form this season and put up very good performances in both Benson Trophy races. He is the type of runner who can always be depended on in the inter-club fixtures. J. Baikie is still plugging along and although his times are not as good as he has done, he is training hard and may surprise his club mates before the end of the season. A. Kennedy has not shown his best so far. He does not seem to be training enough and could improve his times a bit were he to train harder. J. Warham, one of this year’s novices, is running creditably and usually teams very well with his brother Dick. These two have extra long legs, which makes it rather difficult for the others to run with them. In a few seasons John should be one of the top men of the club. J. Lochore, also one of last year’s novices, is a much imp-roved runner this season and has put up some very good performances. He trains hard and should gain a place in the championship team. H. Adcock, one of the limit men, is very uneven this season. One day he runs a good race and then next week he is very poor. He receives good handicaps and should make better use of them.

E. Wyeth, a new runner in the club, has shown that he has the ability to run well, but unfortunately does not seem to be putting his best into his runs. Next season, however, should see him much further up on the handicapper’s sheet. H. Carle and C. Moore are two other runners who do not seem to be trying their hardest, but are content to bring up the rear. I. Shaw and F. Gillions are not very regular attenders, but usually run fairly well when they do turn out. . J. Liddle and A. Spicer are another two who are not very consistent, but all these men can be relied on to do their best for the club in its inter-club fixtures.
