NEW CUNARDER.

LARGER & FASTER SHIP THAN QUEEN MARY. (Received Wednesday, 7.45 p.m.) LONDON, July 29. The new Cunarder most probably will be named after the late King. A plan for a smaller ship than the Queen Mary has been dropped. The No. 552 will be bigger and faster and will cost half a million more than the Queen Mary. (Another message states that specific proposals relating to the proposed liner have been received by the Chancellor of the Exchequer from the CunardWhite Star Company. The construction of the vessel will give employment to about 7000 men directly at Clydebank and indirectly to about 300,000 others. The keel will probably be laid down at the end of August, and it is hoped that the new ship will be launched at the end of 1937 and be ready for the Atlantic service in the summer of 1939.)
