WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:—Barograph, 29.7; shade temperature, maximum, 50.4; minimum, 41.4; terrestrial; 41.8; sunshine, 1 hour 18 minutes; rain, 28 points. Solway: Mr. H. M. Boddington reports that 27 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—An extensive depression covers the New Zealand area, with centres located respectively east and west of the North Island. Pressure has risen over Eastern Australia. Forecast: Winds, westerly at first in the far north and variable over the central portion of the North Island; elsewhere south-easterly to southerly, and southerlies soon becoming general, moderate to strong and reaching gale force in places, especially in the Cook Strait area. Weather: Still dull and m'isty, with further rain in most districts >and some heavy falls and flooding probable in the North Island. Cold temperatures, with snow on the high country. Improving soon on the West Coast of the South Island. Sun rises, 7.1 a.m.; sets, 4.53 p.m. Lighfing-up time, 5.13 p.m.
