MAIN HIGHWAYS BOARD APPOINTMENTS. WELLINGTON, July 28. Mr. C. J. McKenzie, who recently retired on account of ill health from the position of Engineer-in-Chief and Un-der-Secretary for Public Works has resigned from the chairmanship of the Main Highways Board for similar reasons. . The appointment of Mr. John Wood, the new Engineer-in-Chfef and Under-Secretary for Public Works, to be chairman of the board in success iop to Mr. McKenzie is announced by the Minister of Public Works. Mr. Wood has been a member of the board for several years. To fill the vacancy on the board Mr. A. J. Baker, Assistant Engineer-in-Chief and formerly an acting member has been appointed as Government representative. Mr. H. H. Sharp is now an acting-member of the board. The terms of the warrant giving effect to these appointments will be gazetted this week.—(P.A.)
