Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:— Barograph, 30.12; shade temperature, maximum, 44.8; minimum, 32.5; terrestrial, 26.4; sunshine, 35 minutes; rain, 35) points; freat, 4 degrees. Solway: Mr. H. M. Boddington reports that 40 -points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a,m. yesterday. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—A complex depression extends across the Tasman Sea on to New Zea fl»pd and pressure is low also over the wkq)eof Southern Australia; an unsettled type of weather is' therefore likely to persist for some time. Forecast: Winds westerly in the far north, otherwise north-easterly to easterly predominating, strong in the northern portion of the North Island and elsewhere light to moderate but freshening. Weather: Fair at first on the west coast of the South Island, otherwise cloudy to overcast and in places misty or foggy, fairly general rain developing, with some heavy falls especially from Nelson and Marlborough northwards; temperatures mild.
