Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 aun. yesterday:— Barograph, 30.08; shade temperature, maximum, 51.8; minimum, 40.7; terrestrial, 40.3; sunshine, 3 hours 48 minutes; rain, 121 points.
Solway: Mr. H. M. Boddington re-1 ports that 104 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Eidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—Pressure has remained very uniform over New Zealand. A slight depression located this morning over the Cook Strait area had practically filled up by this afternoon. An extensive cyclonic depression, however, is now centred off the New South Wales coast and conditions are disturbed also in the Northern Tasman Sea. Forecast: Winds, light to moderate and variable at first, but north-easterly to northerly soon setting in generally and freshening. Weather: Cloudy to overcast in eastern districts, with showers or misty rain in places; otherwise mainly fair at first, but dull and misty conditions with rain developing soon in the northern portion of the North Island and gradually extending over the Dominion, many heavy falls being likely.
