STRIKE IN MELBOURNE.
BUILDING WORKERS DEMAND 40-HOUE WEEK. (Received Wednesday, 10.0 p.m.) MELBOURNE, July 21. All building operations in the metropolitan area are at a standstill to-day owing to a strike of carpenters and joiners, who are demanding a fortyhour week of five days and increased pay.
