DEFENCE COMPANIES.
TERRITORIAL ORGANISATION IN BRITAIN. RUGBY, July 21. The Secretary for War announced this afternoon in the House of Commons that the Royal Defence Corps is to be replaced by national defence companies in the territorial army. The role of the companies will be to protect important points in Great Britain on threat of war and during war only. Officers and other ranks will consist of ex-members of his Majesty’s forces between the ages of 45 and 60 years. They will not be called up for service unlil the guarding of important points ’ becomes necessary, neither will they be called up on account of civil disturbance.—(British Official Wireless).
