HOCKEY.
WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION’S COMPETITION. STAGS BEAT KIWI. On Saturday, under ideal conditions, the second round of the Wairarapa Hockey Association’s championship fixtures was commenced. The hockey seen was very fast and interesting. The championship winners are still uncertain, but it looks like Dalefield, ♦Carterton and Hastwell fighting it.out. Stags showed great form in beating Kiki on Saturday. Stags were more aggressive and clearly deserved, their win. Carterton and Wesley also played a good game and although Carterton won they were extended all out to do so. By defeating Greytown, Dalefield have gone to pride of place on the ladder. This team has yet to be beaten and by the way they are improving it is going to take a good team to do it. The ladies’ section is also getting interesting with Greytown in front. They easily accounted for Old Girls on Saturday. High SchQol also registered a win, but the other two games were drawn. The junior ladies’ championship is already settled, High School being several points ahead of the next team. The school team has not lost a game. Saturday’s results:— Senior men: Stags beat Kiwi, 4/2; Carterton beat Wesley, 4/1; Dalefield beat Greytown, 8/4; Hastwell, a bye. Junior men: High School A beat High School B, 3/0; Y.M.C.A. and Wesley A drew, 3/3; Dalefield beat Wesley B, 8/0. Senior women: Greytown beat Old Girls, 7/1; High School beat St. Matthews, 6/1; Te Ore Ore and Carterton urew, 3/3; Gladstone and Excelsior drew, o‘/0. Junior women: High. School beat Old Girls, 4/2; Greytown beat Excelsior, 2/0. Secondary schools: Owing to sickness at the schools, no games were player, in the secondary schools’ competition.
