WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:— Barograph, 29.62; shade temperature, maximum, 54.3; minimum, 34.7; terrestrial, 28.0; sunshine, 7 hours 45 minutes; rain, 5 points; frost, 2.4 degrees. Solway: Mr. H. M .Boddington reports that 5 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday: A sharp depression is passing rapidly eastwards off the Dominion and a secondary one is now advancing on to southern districts; anti-cyclone is following it across the Tasman. Forecast: Winds, westerly to north-wester-ly at first in'the southern half of the South Island, otherwise south-westerly to southerly prevailing, strong generally and of gale force at places but gradually moderating. Weather: Cold, changeable and squally generally, with passing showers and in places hail, snow on some of the ranges, conditions improving gradually from to-morrow. Sun rises, 7.17 a.m.; sets, 4.33 p.m. ( Lighting-up time, 5.3 p.m.
