meeting op watrar.apa aero CLUB COMMITTEE DISPLAY NEXT TUESDAY. The initial meeting of the committee of the Wairarapa and Buahine Aero Club in the new clubhouse at the Hood Aerodrome was held on Tuesday night. Mr. A. B. C. Claridge, of Dannevirke, presided over a good attendance of members from all parts of the district.

It was reported that arrangements had been completed for the McGregor and Fraser Flying Display at the aerodrome on Tuesday next (King’s Birthday) when a de Havilland 86 air liner would be in Masterton to co-operate with the club in the carriage of passengers, The net proceeds of the flights, together with the whole of a collection to be taken up on the ground end the receipts from the sale of programmes, would be devoted by the club to the trustees of the McGregor and Fraser funds. It was stated that the visit of the de Havilland would provide the public with an excellent opportunity of seeing ono of the largest passenger planes now operating a daily service between Pklmerston North and Dunedin.

The flying report for May showed that 56 flying hours were flown, a slight increase over the total for the corresponding month last year. Four trainees were reported to have completed their first solo flights. They would be examined for their A licences this month. A report of the New Zealand Aero Club’s meeting in May was presented by the club’s delegate, Mr. N. G. Whiteman, who was congratulated on the decisions reached. It was stated that the finishing of the club house had been pertly completed and the social committee was authorised to expend the balance of the money in hand, which had been donated to the club for this purpose. Three resignations were accepted and four new members elected. A preliminary report was presented on the recent ball. Members of the committee expressed the opinion that the ball was the finest yet held by the club.! It was stated that the attendance showed a substantial increase over '.that of last year. It was reported that ZK-ABE and ZK-ACD were at present undergoing their' periodical inspection for airworthiness and that the engine of ZKABM was being completely dismantled for a thorough overhaul and renovation. All the club’s aircraft were reported to be in good order.
