HONOURS EASY IN SINGLES. V. U.S.A. BUDGE BEATS CBAWFOBD AFTER MARATHON STRUGGLE. (Received Sunday, 6.30 p.m.) PHILADELPHIA, May 30. In the Davis Cup tennis contest A. K. Quist (Australia) defeated W. Allison (U.S.A.), 6/3, 5/7, 6/4, 6/1, and Budge (U.S.A, defeated J. H. Crawford (Australia), 6/2, 6/3, 4/6,1/6,13/11. Quist, who was playing more steadily than his opponent missed some points in the concluding stages of the game through overeagerness but nevertheless showed superiority throughout the game, enabling him to emerge the victor. In the Budge-Crawford match the Australian tired towards the end and the last set developed into a marathon struggle, in which Budge managed to outstay the visitor.
