Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report:—We held our weekly sale at Carterton yesterday when a good offering was offered to a big attendance. Sheep made late values. Cattle were firmer than last week and all pens were sold under the hammer. Weaner pigs also met with a stronger market but porkers and bacon er s were easier. Following are our prices:— Sheep: 5-year ewes, ,r.w.. S.D. rams, to 27/1; m.a. ewes, r.w. S.D. rams, 25/1 to 26/; store ewes, 16/, 14/ to 15/; fat and forward ewes, to 19/; fat wethers, to 2-6/6; fat b.f. 2-tooths, 20/ to 27/6; woolly ewe lambs, to 26/3. Cattle: Heifers on drop-, £5/5/ to £6 10/; springing heifers, £3/15/ to £4; fat cows, £3/7/6 to £4/10/; forward cows, £2/5/ to £3/2/6; store cows, 25/ to 37/6; vealers, to £3/4/; bulls, to £4 11/. Pigs: Weaners (good), 9/ to 11/6; do. (medium), 6/6 to 8/6; do. (small), 5/ to 6/; slips, 12/ to 16/6; store pigs, 17/ to 19/6; light porkers, 20/6 to 22/6; porkers, ‘24/ to 32/6; baconers, to £2/9/.
