MEETING OF FEATHERSTON COUNCIL..
The monthly meeting of the Featherston County Council was held at Martinborough on Wednesday. It was decided to make a grant of £5 to the Returned Soldiers’ Association and that variegated thistle be placed on the noxious weeds list, and to apply for a subsidy for the construction of the Teneriffe and Orepi bridges. « It was resolved that the last day for registration of dogs be July 1, and that after that date offenders be prosecuted. A resolution was passed approving of the ’plans for the Wairarapa Electric Power Board’s Awhea reticulation. It was decided to make and levy a general rate of 1 3-8 d in the £ on the unimproved value of all rateable properties appearing in the valuation rolls of the nine respective ridings in the county, an increase of l-8d in the £. Slaughter house licenses were granted H. W. Gundy, Featherston; C. W. Skill, Martinborough; and A. T. Evenson, Greytown. It was decided to call tenders for new trucks to replace the cars in use by the overseers. A tender for repairs to Pope’s Head cottage was accepted.
