WATER HEATING.

REDUCTION IN CHARGES BY POWER BOARD.

A reduction in the water heating charges was decided on 'by the Wairarapa Power Board at its meeting yesterday. The reduction is approximately £1 per k.w. per annum. The new rates are as follow, with the old rates in parentheses for comparison:— Nine hours service, £2 10s per k.w. (£3 4 S per 1000 watts); 14 hours, £4 5s (£5); 16 hours £5 (£6); 21 hours, £8 (£8 10s). All the above charges are plus £1 for a time switch, except that in the old rate the 21 hours’ service paid £1 10s for the time switch charge. The reduction which applies in the ease of the 21 hours tervice to range users only and on the three others to all consumers involves a cost of £396.
