Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:— Barograph, 30.37; shade temperature, maximum, 49.9; minimum, 43.2; terrestrial, 41.6; sunshine, nil. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yester-day:—-Except that the northern depression has moved further eastwards and pressure has risen somewhat to the north and east the general situation remains unchanged, with an anticyclone covering the Tasman Sea and New Zealand. Forecast: Winds southerly to south-easterly over the North Island, stiU strong at places north of Auckland but otherwise light to moderate, light and variable in the South Island but westerlies prevailing in the far south. Weather: Fair to fine generally but a few isolated showers still probable in the far northern and north-eastern parts of the North Island; cold night but moderate day temperatures. Sun rises, 7.3 a.m.; sets, 4.33 p.m. Lighting-up time, 5.3 p.m.
