MAHMOUD WINS BRITISH CLASSIC. FAVOURITE RUNS SECOND. (Received This Day, 1.48 a.m.) LONDON, May 27. The Derby, run at Epsom, resulted:— The Aga Khan's gr. or roan c. Mahmoud, by Blenheim —Mah Mahal (C. Smirke), 1; the Aga Khan's b.c. Taj Akbar, by Fairway—Taj Shirin (Gordon Richards), 2; Mrs. J. Shand's br.c. Thankerton, by Manna — Verdict (Burns), 3. According to the latest cables the winner was third in order of favouritism, the second horse being the ruling favourite, principally on account of his jockey being Gordon Richards.
