The engagement is announced of Elsie Hazel, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Cook, Napier road, Havelock North, to John Kitchener, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Coleman, Masterton. The engagement is announced of Linda Elizabeth, eldest daughter of Mr. R. J. Smith and the late Mrs. Smith of Hogg Crescent, Masterton, to Richard John Hannan, younger son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Adam McKay, Masterton. The funeral of the late Mrs. Winhall, wife of the Rev. N. E. Winhall, Vicar of Pahautanui, took place at Pahautanui yesterday, there being a large attendance of mourners from Masterton and many other parts of the North Island. There was a big representation of clergy, those officiating being Bishop Sprott, the Ven. Archdeacon W. Bulloek and the Rev. E. M. McLevie, while others present were the Ven. Archdeacon Hansell, Canon P. E. James and the Revs. N. Robertshawe, H. E. K. Fry, G. V. Kendrick, J. Neild, C. J. G. Samuda, V. C, Vennimore, Gordon McKenzie, F. C. Long, C. E. Hyde, G. G. Bell, MeCaw (Presbyterian), and S. Keen (Methodist). About ninety wreaths were sent by sympathising friends. A service was held at St. Alban’s Church, the organist being Mr. L. G. Taylor and the bass soloist Mr. A. J. Bradey, Senr. The pall-bearers were Messrs R. L. Button, C. Athya, E. Pickering, R. W. Bothamley, F. Taylor and F. Richardson.
