WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton: Miss A. M. 'Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:— Barograph, 39.38; shade temperature, maximum, 55.8; minimum, 26.6; terrestrial, 19.5; sunshine, 5 hours 36 minutes; frost, 10.9 degrees. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—An intense anti-cyclone centred east of Tasmania extends on to New Zealand but pressure is low to the south-east and a series of depressions continue to pass to the north of the Dominion. Forecast: Winds southerly to south-easterly, moderate mainly but freshening at times about and north of Cook Strait and reaching gale force at places in the northern and north-east-ern portions of the North Island. Weather: Some scattered rains in the northern half of the North Island, with some heavy falls in the far north, light showers probable also at isolated places on the east eoast south of East Cape, otherwise fair to fine and cold.
