FLYING FATALITIES.
AIR FORCE EMPIRE DAY DISPLAY. TWO OFFICERS INCINERATED AT DOVER. OTHER PILOTS INJURED. (Received Sunday, 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 23. The Air Force's Empire Day display, in which forty-five aerodromes and many flying schools are open to public inspection, with numerous bombing, aerobatics and parachute exhibitions, was marred by three accidents. A fighter participating in a low-flying attack at Dover struck an electric cable and caught fire and two flying officers were incinerated. Dover’s electric current was cut off. A fighter in an aerobatic display at Kenley was unable to get out of a spin and crashed, the pilot being severely injured. A civilian pilot trashed and was admitted to hospital at Shoreham.
