Y.M.C.A. VISITORS.
PARTY FROM HUTT VALLEY. YESTERDAY’S ENTERTAINMENTS. The Hutt Valley Y.M.C.A. boys who are visiting Masterton had a full day yesterday. In the morning a football match was played with the Masterton Y.M.C.A., the latter winning by 16 points to 14. The game was fast and interesting. Mr. J. Kennedy acted as referee. Tries were scored for Hutt by Lees, Dallinger and Parker. Fairburn converted the try scored by Parker. For Masterton Faulknor scored three tries and H. Corlett one try which was converted by Faulknor. In the afternoon the party visited Awatoitoi, where they were entertained at afternon tea by Mrs Hugh Morrison and were shown over the station by Miss Morrison. The tour proved most profitable and interesting. Last evening the visitors took part in a series of games with the Masterton Y.M.C.A. At ping pong Masterton won by three matches to one. Hutt Valley won the senior quoits and Masterton the junior. Masterton seniors defeated the visitors in the gymnasium, basketball match by 18 goals to 13 but Hutt Valley won the junior game by 6 goals to nil. In the gymnasium relay contests the Visitors won by four to three.
This morning dodge ball will be played in the Gymnasium, followed by an athletic contest. The visitors will return to the Hutt by this afternoon’s train.
Thanks are expressed to the Cosy Theatre management for the free picture entertainment provided for the visitors on Monday night and to car drivers who conveyed the party to Awatoitoi yesterday.
