SUEZ CANAL DUES.
REDUCTION TO TAKE EFFECT ON JULY 1. — OF DIVIDENDS. PABIS, May 18. The Suez Canal Company has reduced its transit dues for loaded vessels to 7s per ton and for ships in ballast to 3s 6d, commencing on July 1. The dividends on capital shares has been declared at 355 francs, and on founders’ shares 369 francs. The “News-Chronicle” points out that the increased traffic was due to the Italian war activities, which brought Italy up to second place in 1935 with 6,077,000 tons, compared with fourth place with 2,089,000 in 1934. Britain last year topped the list with 15,734,000 tons. Britain will benefit substantially as a result of the increased dividend, as she received £2,394,000 in 1934.
