CAREFUL EXAMINATION NEEDED.
STATEMENT BY ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY. RECONSTRUCTION URGED. (Received Monday, 7.45 p.m.) LONDON, May 17. Public utterances in various quarters of the Globe make it increasingly clear that the League’s future must carefully be examined. The Archbishop of Canterbury (Dr. Lang) admits that all ideas centred on the League have failed and urges its reconstruction if civilisation is to be protected.
AGITATION IN INDIA.
failure to protect WEAKER NATIONS. SUBJECT TO BE RAISED BY CONGRESS. (Received Monday, 7.45 p.m.) SIMLA, May 17. A strong agitation is being fostered throughout the country for India’s withdrawal from the League, owing to its ineffectiveness in the protecting of weaker nations. The subject is to be raised with hostile intention at the next session of the Indian Congress.
