QUEEN CARNIVAL.
POSITION OF CANDIDATES. At noon yesterday the position of the candidates in the Wairarapa P. and A. Society’s Queen Carnival was as follows: —Miss R. Jury (GreytownCarterton), 17,188; Miss D. McLeod (Martinborough), 16,508; Miss M. Nix (Featherston), 14,738.
LAST WEEK. ATTRACTIONS ON FRIDAY. The Queen Carnival will be brought to a conclusion on Friday, when there will be a series of attractions in aid of the various candidates in the different centres of the south Wairarapa. At Martinborough a Town v. Country football match will take" place, starting at 1.30 p.m. A procession will proceed from the football ground to the town and a Piaddy’s Market will be held in the Square, followed by a dance in the Town Hall in the evening. A Paddy’s Market fair will be the attraction at the Featherston Town Hall, starting at 2 p.m., where hoopla, Aunt Sally and other side shows will provide patrons with plenty of amusement. A euchre tournament will be held in the evening. At Carterton a Paddy’s Market and bazaar will be staged in the King’s Theatre. Games, Bide shows and a baby show will give added interest to the proceedings. A dance will be held in the Crown Theatre, Greytown, at 8 o’clock. Progress reports of the voting in each district will be announced at intervals throughout the day and evening.
