HIDE & SHEEPSKIN SALE.

Messrs Murray Roberts and Co., Ltd., Wellington, report May I:—A slight easing was the general tendency at the fortnightly sale of hides and I sheep-skins held to-day. Sheepskins I continued to sell well but a drop of I’d was general on most lots. In this respect many lots in our offering were not up to the usual show of the last few months. Light ox were very firm, but mediums and heavies declined to the extent of id. A noticeable easing took place in cow hides, amounting to 3-8 d for light and medium sorts to a shade for heavies. Light yearling sold at prices equal to late rates, but heavies of tfic same sorts did not maintain their former level. Calf were firm to a shade easier. The range of prices is given below:— Dry sheep-skins: Halfbred, 6d to 10$d; fine crossbred, 8d to 9sd; medium crossbred, Bfd to 9|d; coarse crossbred, 7Jd to 94d; half wools, 7d to 94d; quarter wools, 6|d to 9|d; pelts, 4}d to Bd. Salted skins: Quarter wools, 4s lOd; half wools, 3s 9d to 5s 9d; three-quar-ter wools, 2s 6d to 6s; lambs, 3s. Hides: Ox, 33/441b5., 2d to 6 3-8 d; 45/521'bs., 3 7-8 d to 7 7-8 d; 53/591b5., BJd; 60/691b5., 8 5-8 d; 701bs. and over, 9 1-84. Cow, 33/391b5., 5 5-8 d to 6Jd; 40/481b5., 4d to 6Jd; 491bs. and over, 4d to 6|d. Kip, 25/321b5., 41d to 7 3-8 d; 17/241b5., 6ld to BJd. Yearling, 11/161b5., 5Jd to 9Jd.
