WON BY LORD DERBY’S TIDE-WAY. RUGBY, May 1. The second of the season’s classics, the One Thousand Guineas, was decided on the fourth day of the Newmarket First Spring Meeting to-day, and -the result was:—One Thousand Guineas, a sweepstakes with IOOOgs. added; second 10 per cent, and third 5 per cent, of whole stakes; for three-year-old fillies, Rowley Mile (1 mile). — Lord Derby’s br. f. Tide-way, by Fairway—Drift, by Swynford, 9.0, 1; Lord Derby’s br. f. Feolo, by Friar Marcus— Aloe, 9.0, 2; R. F. Watson’s b. f. Ferrybridge,. by Ballyferis—Sunbridge, 9.0, 3. Twenty-two starters. Won by onS and a half lengths, a neck between second and third. Feola is owned by his Majesty the King but is being raced on lease by Lord Derby during the period of Court mourning. The winner was bred by her owner, and she is trained by Colledge Leader at Newmarket.

KENTUCKY DEBBY.

WON BY THREE-YEAR-OLD.

LOUISVILLE, May 2. Morton Schwartz’s fhree-ydar-old Bold Venture won the sixty-second running of the historic Kentucky Derby before seventy thousand people to-day. Brevity was placed second and Indian Broom third. Time: 2 min. 3 2-ssecs. The winner’s stake was forty thousand dollars.
