MEAT FOR SOLDIERS.
COST OF HOME-KILLED TOO DEAR. SUPPLIES FROM DOMINIONS. LONDON, February 11. Speaking in the House of Commons, Mr. Alfred Duff Cooper, Secretary for War, said that just over £400,000 was spent last year on the purchase of Dominion frozen meat for the Army and Air Force at home, and £2OOO on the purchase of fresh milk. The extra cost of supplying home-kill-ed instead of Dominion meat was estimated at about £350,000 a year which, apart from administrative difficulties, was prohibitive so far as the Army funds were coneerned.
