DRILL & FOLK DANCING.
EXHIBITION BY TECHNICAL. SCHOOL GIRLS.
A display of drill and folk-dancing learnt by the girls of the Masterton Technical School during' the year was given in the Park yesterday. The two squads, known as Arawa and Tainui, under the leadership of Molly West and Isabel Palmer, exhibited general exercises, graceful movements in Eastern balances, salaams, life saving drill and a set of four folk dances — “Old Mole,” “Jenny Pluck,“Htansdor. House” and another. All this work, most of which was done to music in the shade of the trees, was carried out with great precision and accuracy, and was a most interesting and charming sight. Finally, in front of tiie stand, various marching movements were carried out in accurate and effective- style. The general bearing and deportment of those performing these exercises- was very good, and the squads were a great credit to the school.
