Ihe bather drowned at Sumner on Thursday has been identified as Gabriel Bouterey, aged 24, St. Asaph Street. The body was washed ashore at noon yesterday. Bouterey was a member of the South Brighton Surf Club. He was a proficient swimmer and a frequent visitor to the beaches.—-(P.A.) The monthly meeting of directors of the Mauriceville Dairy Co., was held on Thursday, Mr. V. K. Lemberg presiding. The manager reported an increase in manufacture of 108,4331b5. of butter to date over last season. The flush of the season had not yet been reaehdd. The quality of the butter was being well maintained, the average grade for the month being 93.99. The pay-out to suppliers for the November supply was fixed at 9Jd.

“One of the most pleasing features of the year,” said the Principal of the Technical Sehool (Mr. O. H. E. Yates) in his annual report last evening, “has been the revival of both the Technical and Old Students’ Associations. Both bodies have elected strong executives and with increasingly stronger memberships the future promises well for a strong spirit of co-operation between these bodies and the school, the ■welfare of whieh must benefit to a great extent.”

A garden party is to be held at St. Matthew’s School this afternoon at 2.30 o’clock. If the weather is wet the party will take place in the Assembly Hall. A cordial invitation is extended to all to attend, as the afternoon promises to be a most enjoyable one. The popular “Christmas Cake” will be conducted by the old girls of the school

and parcels for it would be gratefully received by Miss Mollie Iveson, Essex Street, who with Miss Alma Perry will be in charge of it. The garden party will be officially opened by Lady Perry. Judging jn the Carterton Group of the Wairarapa Boys’ and Girls’ Calf Clubs took place at the Carterton School grounds on Tuesday. The judge was Mr. H. W. Feast, of Greytown, and Mrs. Feast presented the ribbons to the winners. Addresses were delivered by Mr. Ben Roberts, MJP., and Mr. H. W. Hesse, Agricultural Supervisor and Instructor, Wellington Education Board. In the evening a special treat for the worshippers will be provided by the Junior choir of 80 voices; rendering the cantata “Chimes of the Holy Night,” which the members have been assiduously practising for some weeks an.d under the capable guidance of the Misses Donald they may be relied upon to present the eantata with taste and expression. The Bible Classes will eonelude their year’s work to-morrow and will hold a united tea at 5 o’clock, followed by, a Young People’s Service in the chusch at 5.45 p.m. The Rev. WMcDonald will conduct both services at Kuripuni and Mr. Goudge the evening service at Solway. Mr. Stockwell will preach at Mt. Bruce at 2 p.m. The annual retiring collections on behalf of the Masterton Children’s Home, will be taken at the close of all the services. Cowman gardener wanted. Giri wanted for sweets counter. The Public Trust Office inserts a notiee to creditors and others having claims against the estate of the late Harold Varnham Haise. This afternoon, commencing at 1.30, J. Kerslake and Co. will sell by auction household furniture at 75 Bentley St. on account of the trustees in the estate of the late Mrs. S. W. Vibert.
