MURDER CHARGE.
MAGISTRATE’S COURT HEARING AT AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, September 30.
Further evidence was heard to-day in the case in which Eric Mareo, 41, a musician, is charged with the murder of his wife, Thelma Clarice Mareo on April 15. Freda Stark gave extended evidence relative to ‘deceased’s sleepy condition on the Saturday night before she died. Stephen Barclay, chemist, testified that Mareo purchased a packet of barbitone tablets. Dr. John Dreadon, who was called to the deceased's house, detailed her condition and expressed his belief that she was probably suffering from an overdose of veronal. Evidence of - Mrs. Mareo’s admission to hospital was given by Dr. B. P. Keanan. Several other, witnesses also gave evidence. The case was adjourned until to-morrows— (P.A.)
