TE WHARAU.
(“The Age” Special.) Exceptionally keen interest is being taken in the ping-pong club at Te Wharau and on Saturday evening next a team selected by the captain will try conclusions with one picked by the vice-captain. The following will represent the captain’s team:—Mrs. G. Taylor, Misses Crawley, N. Taylor, M. Taylor and H. Taylor and Messrs N. Kummer, Pyne, Percy (leapt.), Gray and Nelson. The vice-captain’s team will be picked from the following:— Mesdames A. McGregor, Schofield, P. Kummer, Green, J. Bannister, Cobb and Misses J. Kummer, P. Schofield, Bowley, Bannister and Cobb. The men will comprise Messrs I. McGregor (capt.), A. McGregor, B. Schofield, C'. Schofield, P Cobb, F. McKinstry, P. Kummer, J. Bannister and W.* Kummer.
The order of play will be ladies and men’s singles, ladief and men’s doubles and combined doubles.
Play starts at 7.30 p.m. and a good evening’s entertainment is assured. Supper will be provided as usual by the ladies.
On Monday,- the King’s birthday, members of the Tyneside Golf Club will visit the Te Wharau links and try conclusions with the Te Wharau Club and it is expected that some close games will be the result. The visitors will be entertained at lunch by the home club and an early start will be made on the pairs followed by a foursome.
