INTERNATIONAL TENNIS.
FEDERATION VOTING POWERS. LONDON, March 3. The “Observer” says that the International Tennis Federation on March 15 will consider a redistribution of votes, in order to recognise to a greater degree countries which have become more important since the votes were originally allotted. The following increases of votes are proposed:—France, Britain, Australia, Germany, America, votes increased from 6 to 12; Canada, Italy, New Zealand, and South Africa, increased from 4 to 9; Japan and Czechoslovakia, which formerly had two, to be given nine; other countries with three, to be given seven, with proportionate increases among lower representations. Thus the voting power will be increased from 99 to 259.
The change will also give the federation a larger income, as the cost per vote at the annual meeting has been increased from £1 to £2, giving an income of over £5OO. PLAY AT MONTE CARLO. PALMIERI DEFEATS AUSTIN. MONTE CARLO, March 3. In the final of the singles tennis championship Palmieri defeated Austin-6-1, 6-1, 7-5.
