CRUTCHINGS SALE
OFFERING AT WELLINGTON YESTERDAY. —— ' PRICES UP TO EXPECTATIONS. OFFICIAL RANGE OF VALUES. UB WELLINGTON, August 21. A sale of crutchings was held to-day by the Wellington Wool Brokers’ Association. The offering was approximately 1200 bales, including a small proportion of fleece wool. Competition was well spread within strictly refined limits. The prices of crutchings were easier than those of a year ago but were well up to expectations, values being relatively high in comparison with fleece wools. Australia, Canada, the Continent, ]o- > cal mills and apparently Japan all took their share of the offerings. The official range of prices is as follows:— Fine crossbred, 48/50, average, 8d; fine crossbred, 46/48, average, 6fd to 8d; medium crossbred, 44/46, average, 4|d to sjd; coarse crossbred, 40/4*l, average, 4d to s£d; lambs, fine, 44/50, 8d; bellies and pieces, crossbred, good to super, 3sd to 4{d; low to medium, IJd to 3|d; merino, crutchings, 7d to 7|d; halfbred crutchings, s}d to 7}d; crossbred crutchings, superior, 5d to 6d; crossbred crutchings, medium to good, 4d to s}d; crutchings, seedy and inferior, Id to 4Jd; crossbred pieces and bellies, 2|d to 4Jd; locks and stained pieces, Id to 2Jd. —(P.A.)
