WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton: Miss R. Robinson reported as follows for the 24 hours ended. 11 a.m. yesterday: Barograph, 30.40; shade temperature, maximum 60.8, minimum 46; terrestrial, 34; 9 hours 30 minqtes; rain, 10 points. Solway: Mr. H. M. Boddington reported that 15 points of rain were registered at Solway for the 24 hours up till 9 o’clock yesterday morning. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday as follows:—A shallow depression crossed the Dominion last night; a fresh one has formed in the North Tasman; the pressure is high from. Southern Australia across the South Tasman to beyond New Zealand. Forecast: Winds freshening, south-easterlies about Cook elsewhere east to north prevailing, becoming strong in the far north, elsewhere moderate. Weather: Mainly fair to fine at first, but considerable cloud and rain developing shortly in the far north and extending gradually southwards over most of the Dominion; temperatures mild in the north, moderate in the south. Sun rises, 6.34 a.m.; sets, 5.15 p.m. I Lighting-up time:—s.4s p.m.
