HEREFORD SALE.
The sale of the famous ‘ 1 Bushy Park’’ stud of Hereford Cattle, whiqh was as near a complete dispersal as possible, for only 15 females of various ages were retained, was held at the Station Homestead on Thursday, April 26. The sale was conducted by Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., in conjunction with Messrs Murray Roberts and Co., Ltd., the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., and Dalgety and Co., Ltd. Mr. Moore’s Hereford stud has been right to the fore for many years, and the sale attracted buyers from all parts of the North Island. There was a very large selection of outstanding cattle to choose from, the buyers were not slow to take advantage of this. During re? cent years, Mr. Moore has been specialising in Polled Herefords, a Breed which is fast gaining popularity in the Dominion, and in 1930, he imported from America, four Double Standard Polled Hereford Bulls. As a result of this, there was a splendid consignment of run yearling Polled bulls offered at the sale, descendants of the imported sires from run cows, and there was particularly keen interest shown in these. The stud horned females, in most eases pasturing with Polled bulls, were an outstanding lot, and buyers from all parts of the North Island took full advantage of securing some of these renowned cows and heifers, the progeny from the stud cows by the Polled bulls being an added incentive for buyers to secure some of these choice lots. The Stud Horned bulls met with strong competition, and although bidding was most animated for the Bun Polled Bulls, buyers were not prepared to see outstanding Horned Cattle' go under value, with the result that prices were very firm.
