Mr. J. Miller, S.M., is relieving at Wellington this week. Miss Stephens has been appointed to succeed Miss Lace as infant mistress at the Greytown District High School. Mr. A. J. Skjellerup, manager of the Masterton branch of the Para Rubber Co., Ltd., is to leave at the end of next month on a business and holiday visit to the United States of America and Canada. He is to travel by the “Monterey” which will leave Auckland on June 30. Mr. Skjellerup expects to be away for three months.

The death occurred yesterday at his residence, Lower Hutt of Dr. David Eardley Fenwick, 0.8. E., one of the most prominent physicians in the Dominion. Dr. Fenwick attended to his professional duties on Thursday, but during the night became ill, and died yesterday morning.—(P.A.) A Sydney cablegram states that Mr. Andrew Ward Bowden, of Wellington, has been appointed public, actuary, South Australia, at a salary of £720 per annum. Mr. Will Hutchens of New Zealand has been appointed adjudicator of the Sydney Eisteddfod in the choral, vocal and instrumental classes.

Mr. J. B. Mawson, at present an inspector of secondary schools, has been appointed head of Scotch College, Sydney, reports a Christchurch Press Association message. He will leave at the end of the second term this year /but will probably go to England before taking up his new position. Mr. Mawsen Mflfc formerly first assistant master at St. Andrew’s College.

On Thursday, members of the Featherston Bowling Club farewelled Mr. W. Franks, who is shortly leaving the district. Mr. F. W. Smith (president), making a presentation of a case of pipes, lighter and tobacco, said that the club was losing one of its best members. Mr. Franks had been a champion player, an enthusiastic member and an excellent secretary. He wished him and his family the best of good luck. Messrs J. W. Card, J. Adamson and H. Rolls also expressed regret at the loss of such a valuable member. In reply Mr. Franks said that he had lived for the Featherston Club and regretted greatly having to leave it. He intended to carry on the game, if possible, and hoped that on some future date they would all meet again on the green.
