Masterton: Miss B. Robinson reported as follows for the 24 hours ended , j'™' yesterda y : —Barograph, 29.50; shade temperature, maximum, 58.8- minimum, 48.6 terrestrial, 46.4; rain, 55 points. Solway: Mr. H. M. Boddington reports that 60 points of rain were registered at Solway for the 34 hours up till nine o’clock yesterday morning. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E- Kidson) reported at 4 p.in. yesterday as follows:—General situation: A very deep cyclone is now centred just south-east of Cook Strait and is moving towards the Chatham Islands; a moderate anti-eyelone covers southeastern Australia. Forecast: Winds becoming south-west to southerly generally, strong to gale force, later moderating gradually in the far north. Weather: Still dull, wet and stormy, with further rain, heavy falls still being likely in eastern districts; temperatures becoming cold, snow on the ranges; later weather improving gradually from the north. Sun rises, 6.41 a.m.; sets, 4.55 p.m. Lighting-up time, 5.25 p.m.
