MASTERTON TECHNICAL SCHOOL SPORTS. 4* - EVENTS ON THE PARK OVA? YESTERDAY. LIST OP PRIZE-WINNERS. Although the unsettled weather experienced yesterday morning caused a delay in the anpual sports gathering of the Masterton Technical School, held on the Park Oval the meeting was successfully concluded in the afternoon. The many events were keenly contested and the championship winners were:— Boys: Senior, J. Steele, 22 points; intermediate, K. Johnston, 15 pts.; junior, D. Hastie, 12>pts;. jfalf-mile walk, H. Tankersley. Girls: Senior: Af. Wenden, lOipts; intermediate, J. Dixon, 9pts.; junior, M. West, 6pts. The Acting-Principal, Mr. O. H. E. Yates, extended a welcome to the visitors and at the conclusion of the events, announced the winners of the championships, the various trophies being presented to the successful competitors by Mrs. Yates. Among the trophies was a cup presented by Mr. L. J. Taylor for the half-mile walk, competed for for the first time, and won by H. Tankersley. Owing to a mistake in the running of the house relay race, this event will be run again on Tuesday next. Mr. C. Perry made reference to the splendid showing by some of the competitors and complimented all on the orderly manner in which the sports were run, which was a credit to everyone, he said. Cheers followed for the championship winners, for others who had done their best. Mr. and Mrs. Yates, and the teachers for their work.
