OBITUARY.

mr. john McPherson cole. The many friends of Mr. John McPherson Cole will regret to hear of his death, which occurred last evening at the Masterton Hospital, after a short illness. The late Mr. Cole, who was born in Masterton sixty years ago, had spent the greater part of his life here. In his earlier days Mr. Cole, a member of a well-known family, was associated with the old Masterton Implement Company for a period of about 26 years. For a short time he was farming at Makairo, in the Pahiatua district and subsequently took up the property known as “Willow Grove,” Homebush, where he had since resided for a considerable' number of years. Although Mr. Cole did not take an active part in anything of a public nature, he was a most industrious man and was very thorough in everything he undertook. The late Mr. Cole is survived by a widow, one son, Mr. J. H. 8. Cole, (Homebush), and five daughters, Mesdames F. Rogers (Te Whiti), H. A. Champion (Homebush), and the Misses F., P., and M. Cole. Mr. Henry McP. Cole, of Kahutara, is a brother. The sympathy of, a wide circle of friends will be extended to the bereaved relatives in their loss. The funeral will take place to-mor-row. leaving tile residence, Homebush, at 1.30 p.m. for the Masterton Cemetery.
