Robinson reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:—Barograph, 29.90; shade temperature, maximum, 71; minimum, 44; terrestrial, 39.4; sunshine, 8 hours 18 minutes; rain, 18 points. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 pjn. yesterday as follows:—General situation: An anti-cyelone of slight (intensity is now moving across the north Tasman towards northern New Zealand; the first of a fresh series of westerly depressions has already passed Tasmania. Forecast: Winds moderate to strong south-westerlies predominating at first but a change to freshening north-wes-terlies extending rather rapidly northwards to beyond Cook Strait. Weather: Fine in most districts, some rain in western and far southern portions of the South Island, extending to parts of Taranaki; temperatures mild. Solway: Mr. H. M. Boddington reports that 15 points of rain were registered for the 24 hours ending at 9 ’a.m. yesterday. Sun rises, 6.10 p.m.; sets, 6.54 p.m. Lighting-up time, 7.24 p.m.
