FIRE IN MID-AIR.
MASTERED BY FRENCH PILOT. ’PLANE LANDS SAFELY. PARIS, August 27. When a fire occurred at midnight on the Paris-Marseilles mail aeroplane, the pilot ordered the wireless operator to jump in his parachute, which he did, safely accomplishing a landing on the banks of the River Loire, despite the darkness. The pilot meanwhile mastered the flames, and despite damage to one of the three engines, descended safely at the Lyons aerodrome.
