BUILDING SUBSIDY.
APPLICATIONS IN AUCKLAND. The estimated cost of the work proposed under the applications in Auckland for the Unemployment Board’s building subsidy has now reached almost £396,000. Last week an additional 63 applications were received, bringing the number lodged in Auckland to 694 and the total estimated cost to £293,331. The bulk of the works for which application was made during the week comprised small dwellings or additions and alterations to existing buildings, the average cost being under £l9O. Of the total amount of £293,331, it is estimated the labour cost will absorb £95,758, and the amount to be paid in subsidy will be approximately
