ALLEGED BLACKMAIL
TWO MEN BEFORE COURT. Wellington, August 28. Two men, Paku Kingi, a Maori labourer, aged 52, and Claude MeEwen, a hawker, aged 29, were charged before Mr. A. Anderson, J.P., at the Petone Court to-day that with intent to extort the sum of £5 they accused Alfred Grassi of the crime of indecent assault. A remand was granted until September 4 at Petone. Bail was allowed in the sum of £5O each, and one surety of £5O. The two men are to report to the Eastbourne police daily.—(P.A.)
