WIDESPREAD FLOODS.
abnormally heavy monsoon. CALCUTTA, August 26. Widespread floods, due to four days’ incessant rain following an abnormally heavy monsoon, have occurred. The areas affected are Bengal, Assam, Onssa, the United Provinces, and Punjab to the western coast. Thousands of villages have been submerged and houses wrecked. Bail and telegraphic communication is affected.
